My Quest for Better Zzzs

preciated when I had it.

I’m still lucky enough to be able to take short naps at any time, anywhere, and wake up refreshed.

True story, I fell asleep in the middle of a Judas Priest concert. I went, with a friend to see the opening act and, although I’m not a Judas Pries fan particularly, she wanted to stay for their act. Everyone around me was standing on their seats to see the stage better. I was tired, so I sat there, among the legs, closed my eyes and took a nap.

Fast forward to today, and let’s just say it’s not quite the pillow paradise it used to be. Falling asleep is more of a process now, with middle-of-the-night bathroom excursions. Plus, two energetic one-year-old kittens have moved in. I love them to bits, but they think 3am is prime time to play fetch. Ever find toys in your bed when you return from a bathroom break? Yep, that’s my life.

Despite the nightly kitty chaos, I’m on a mission to reclaim my sleep magic. I’ve committed to two big changes hoping they’ll do the trick:

  1. Consistent Sleep Schedule: Bedtime and wake-up calls are happening at the same time, weekdays and weekends. This one’s rough, especially the weekend part, but consistency is key, right?
  2. Ditching Electronics Before Bed: Phones, tablets, all of it — out of the bedroom 30 minutes before I get into bed. The phone now sleeps in the living room. I will wear my Apple Watch in case of emergencies.

These changes are tough, not gonna lie. Weekend mornings will be a huge battle. But here’s the thing: when I’m well-rested, the world is my oyster, and I even make healthier food choices.

So, what do you think? Can I stick to this grand plan for better sleep and a brighter day? Let me know your thoughts or any tips you might have to those restless nights to bed! 🌟
