I have a trip coming up in 100 days.
Let me be real with you: I’m a very large person, I use a walker, and standing up from a chair is no small feat. My knees hurt. I can’t go up stairs. And when I think about the walking, the car rides, the hotel room setup… it honestly feels like a lot.
I didn’t want a fitness plan. I wanted a mobility plan — something that took my reality seriously and helped me feel a little more confident in my body by the time this trip arrives.
So I turned to something I didn’t expect to rely on for this kind of thing: AI.
Planning With AI When You’re Not Sure Where to Start
I opened ChatGPT and typed out everything that was stressing me out:
- I use a walker.
- I struggle to stand from a chair.
- I can’t stand on one leg or walk far.
- I’m already doing some gentle workouts.
- I want to feel stronger for this trip, but I have pain and limits.
And instead of shaming me or offering unrealistic advice, AI came back with:
- A functional plan tailored to my mobility
- Travel-specific support (like car and hotel tips!)
- Encouragement that felt real — not fake pep
- Bite-sized daily actions I could actually do
I wasn’t looking for magic. I was looking for clarity — and AI gave me that.
This Wasn’t About Weight Loss. It Was About Confidence.
Using AI, I was able to map out a super gentle, realistic plan that helps me:
- Practice getting in and out of a car
- Strengthen the muscles I need to stand up
- Reduce stiffness from sitting
- Build endurance in tiny, doable increments
I even got a printable PDF with the whole plan — and I didn’t have to dig through 40 YouTube videos or get overwhelmed by fitness apps designed for people with totally different bodies than mine.
What Surprised Me Most
I expected cold, robotic suggestions. What I got instead was: “You’re not failing. You’re training.”
That’s not just useful. That’s affirming.
I felt like someone (or something?) was in my corner, helping me approach this goal with compassion and structure — not pressure.
Tiny Steps. Clear Wins. Less Overwhelm.
Whether you’re prepping for a trip, creating a new habit, or just trying to figure out your next best step, AI can be a gentle guide that helps you:
- Clarify what matters
- Break big goals into small actions
- Offer encouragement without judgment
- Adapt plans based on your real-life needs

It’s totally adaptable, and whether or not you follow it exactly or at all, I hope it gives you ideas for what’s possible. Have questions about how AI can help you? Please reach out. I’m learning about it and I’d love to help others put it to good use, too.
Final Thought
Sometimes we don’t need motivation.
We need structure that doesn’t scare us.
We need tools that meet us where we are.
AI helped me get started. The rest? That’s up to me — and I’m doing it one day at a time.
