What do you do when you have a setback?

I vary, but setbacks always depress me. It feels like a bad cha cha. 2 steps forward, 1 step back.

Sometimes I just rest, sometimes I doom scroll (not productive, though), and sometimes I call a friend.

I have a lot of unproductive responses to setbacks, like comfort eating. *But* something that does work for me is to dig down and ask “why?” a bunch of times.

Why do I perceive this as a setback?

What do I believe about why this setback happened?

What beliefs am I holding about myself in relation to this?

    Are these facts or feelings?

    Is fear involved?

etc… to really dig in to the root.

Often I find that I believe that I could/should have had better control over something that wasn’t mine to worry about. Often I need to give myself permission to have a non-linear process.
